The big one. 24 hours on emergency power. Visitors welcome.

SKYWARN Recognition Day

First Saturday of December

Operators thank the National Weather Service by working their stations.

What Field Day is like

If you only come to one thing, come to Field Day in June.

The club sets up temporary stations on generators and batteries — no mains power, no permanent antennas, everything carried in that morning. For 24 hours we work as many other stations as possible across the country. In 2024 the whole operation ran on solar.

It is simultaneously a contest, a public demonstration, and a genuine test of whether we could put a station on the air somewhere with no infrastructure. It is also, mostly, a lot of people under a canopy eating chili and talking about antennas.

Bring a chair. Ask questions. If you are licensed you will get a turn at the microphone; if you are not, you can still make contacts with a licensed operator supervising.
