Tropical Storm Helene

A statewide event for South Carolina. The SCHEART network was linked across five sites so counties could pass traffic and track the storm overnight.

Helene was an exceptionally large system, with impacts well outside the forecast track — 4 to 8 inches of rain statewide, isolated amounts to 12 inches, and an elevated overnight tornado threat.

Sites linked for the event included Caesars Head VHF, Spartanburg VHF, Edgefield VHF, Greenwood UHF and CEA Columbia VHF, giving inter-county communication and a way to follow the storm's progress as it crossed in darkness.

The club's scheduled 28 September gathering was cancelled.
